“At the 23rd World Korean Business Congress (WBC) in the United States in April, we will actively build a ‘Korea-Korea Economic Zone’ that unites Korean businesses and Korean businesses.”
“We are planning various ways to strengthen links between Korean companies and Korean-American businesses,” said Lee Sang-duk (pictured), head of the Korea Overseas Korean Affairs Office, at a briefing on the 2025 Work Plan held at the Korea Overseas Korean Welcome Center in Songdo, Incheon, on April 11.
The agency cited strengthening the Korean-American network as one of its five key initiatives this year. Organizing the World Korean Business Congress is part of this initiative.
“The number of Korean companies participating in the World Congress has already been confirmed,” Lee said, adding, ”Infrastructure inspections, including the convention center and accommodation facilities, are progressing smoothly in cooperation with the General Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce in the Americas.”
“We are also actively consulting with domestic business organizations such as the Korea International Trade Association, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry,” Lee said, adding, ‘We will soon send a working group from the Korea Overseas Korean Affairs Office to join the preparations for the event.’The World Business Congress is particularly important for building a ‘Korean business economic zone’ that encompasses the Korean business network and domestic businesses.
The World Chamber of Commerce has recently been helping domestic companies diversify their sales channels by organizing domestic and international events. It will be held in the U.S. for the first time since 2023, when it was held for the first time in the U.S. Last year, it was held in Jeonju. “We will also communicate closely with local organizations in the Americas to surpass the California edition, which was held for the first time in the United States two years ago,” Lee said.
