A business community meeting was held on Friday evening at the Duluth Westin Atlanta Gwinnett Hotel to discuss the success of the 23rd World Korean Business Congress (WKBC) 2025, which will be held April 17-20 at the Atlanta Gass South Convention Center.
More than 100 people attended the event, including Lee Sang-duk, Commissioner of the Korean Overseas Korean Affairs Commission, Lee Kyung-chul, President of the General Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce in the Americas, officials from the Korean American Chamber of Commerce in the Americas and the Korean American Chamber of Commerce in Atlanta, representatives from Atlanta’s business community, and members of the media.
Lee will be in Atlanta from May 5-7 to visit and inspect the site of the convention, and together with the Korea Chamber of Commerce in the United States of America, he will tour and inspect the site, meeting rooms, and corporate exhibition halls where major programs such as the opening and closing ceremonies and the welcome dinner will be held. They will also inspect the exhibition center, which will be home to more than 600 corporate booths, as well as hotel rooms and safety measures for participants.
The World Korean Business Congress is a venue for Korean small and medium-sized enterprises to enter overseas markets and attract investment, and is attended by more than 3,000 Korean and overseas Korean businessmen and 10,000 general visitors every year.
Consul General Seo Sang-pyo delivered a welcome speech at the meeting, and Commissioner Lee Sang-duk said in his greeting, “It is a new feeling to return to Atlanta after 21 years, where I worked twice.” “The WKBC, which grows in size every time, will be held in Atlanta this time, and we will make every effort to make it a success,” Lee said.
“I am confident that the Atlanta event will not only revitalize the Korean economy, but will also be the first year of building a global Korean-American economic zone,” said Lee. ”Attracting buyers is important for participating companies to achieve tangible results, and we are visiting large and small companies, economic organizations and local governments to encourage their participation in the event.”
“The die has already been cast and the organizing committee will make every effort to ensure the success of the event,” said Lee Kyung-chul, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce in the Americas. ”We believe that the event will be the first step in building a Korean-American economic zone that brings together Korean businessmen from around the world.”
Mr. Noh Sang-il, Chairman of the 23rd WKBC Organizing Committee, gave a briefing on the outline of the event. Reporting that 600 exhibitor booths and 15,000 registered participants are expected, Noh explained that Atlanta, which is home to 280 Korean companies and 150,000 Korean-Americans, is an ideal location for the event.
Mr. Kim In-cheol, Director of the Exchange and Cooperation Division of the Korean Overseas Korean Affairs Office, explained the major policies and business directions of the office in 2025.
During the dinner, the attendees shared a toast by Park Sun-geun, president of the Korea-U.S. Friendship Association, who was appointed as the honorary chairman of the convention, and pledged to make the convention a success. Yosef Park Reporter
