Park Jongbeom Appointed as Honorary Chairman of the 23rd World Korean Business Convention

Incheon and Busan Compete to Host the 24th Convention in 2026

Park Jong-beom, Chairman of the World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Associations (World-OKTA), has been appointed as the Honorary Chairman of the 23rd World Korean Business Convention, which will take place in April in Atlanta, USA.

According to the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of the USA (KACCUSA) on March 7, KACCUSA Chairman Lee Kyungchul, who holds the authority to recommend the convention’s chairman and honorary chairman, decided in recognition of World-OKTA’s status as the largest Korean economic organization worldwide.

The official appointment will be made by the Convention’s Organizing Committee, chaired by Lee Sangdeok, Commissioner of the Overseas Koreans Agency.

The World Korean Business Convention, formerly known as the World Korean Business Conference, was rebranded during the 2023 convention held in Anaheim, California. That event marked the first overseas convention since the establishment of the Overseas Koreans Agency. The 22nd convention was held in October 2023 in Jeonju, South Korea, and the 23rd edition will be co-hosted by KACCUSA from April 17 to 20 at the Gas South Convention Center in Atlanta.

Since taking office in November 2023, Chairman Park Jongbeom, who is also the Chairman of Youngsan Group, has successfully elevated World-OKTA’s annual World Korean Economic Leaders Convention into a large-scale Korean product expo, launching the “Korea Business Expo Vienna.” World-OKTA is also preparing to host the 26th World Leaders Convention and Export Consultation in Andong, South Korea, from April 28 to May 1.

Meanwhile, the Organizing Committee of the World Korean Business Convention will decide on the host city for the 24th convention on April 17, the opening day of this year’s event.

According to KACCUSA, Incheon (Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok) and Busan (Mayor Park Heong-joon) have both submitted bids to host the 24th convention, setting up a competitive selection process between the two cities.
