After erecting large billboards in four locations in the east, west, south and north of Atlanta last time, we advertised at the airport at our own expense this time.

As the 23rd World Korean Business Congress (WKBC) makes its final sprint to the Duluth Gass South Convention Center next week, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will be adorned with event announcements.

“We received a quote of about $8,000 for the airport advertisement, but like the billboards, Co-Chairman Kim Baek-kyu decided to pay for it out of his own pocket,” said Kang Shin-beom, head of the Operations Division, on Wednesday.

Co-chair Kim Baek-kyu has installed four large billboards announcing the event at Metro’s expense on I-85, I-75, and the south and north sides of Highway 285 in the east, west, north, and south of Atlanta.

Lee Kyung-chul, president of the General Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce in the Americas, and Han Oh-dong, president of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce in Atlanta, Georgia, held a press conference with Kim Baek-kyu at the Korean American Chamber of Commerce’s office on March 26. “When a big event is held in Korean Town, we hope that it will be naturally promoted by erecting large billboards on major roads in Metro Atlanta,” said Kim Baek-kyu.

General President Lee Kyung-chul said about the advertisements on the street, “Co-President Kim Baek-kyu has already donated $50,000 to the event, and we are very grateful that he voluntarily erected four large billboards at his own expense, as well as additional advertisements at the airport. We will do our best to make this event shine,” he said.

The four highway billboards will be located just before the I-75 Langford Drive interchange with I-85 as you exit Hartsfield International Airport, making the event known to anyone traveling from the airport to Atlanta.

They will also be placed on I-75 between Velcro Road and Highway 285, on I-85 southbound before it meets Highway 285, and on I-85 and Highway 316 between Pleasant Hill Road and Pleasant Hill Road, gradually moving closer to the event venue, the Gulf South Convention Center.

The 23rd World Korean Business Congress (WKBC), which will take place in Atlanta from April 17-20, has already attracted more than 450 booths, with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and U.S. Small Business Administration Secretary Kelly Leffler attending the opening ceremony, as well as Atlanta-based Home Depot, the nation’s largest home improvement retailer.

The event is organized and hosted by the Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce in the Americas (FKACC), the Korea Overseas Korean Affairs Office (Director Lee Sang-duk), and the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises (Chairman Kim Ki-moon).
