As Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, prepares to host the 22nd World Korean Business Convention in October, city officials held their first press briefing in Atlanta on the 12th.

During the event, which took place at a Korean restaurant in Duluth, Han Seung-ryong, Secretary-General of the convention’s organizing committee, acknowledged concerns over Jeonju’s transportation and lodging infrastructure, as well as its limited experience in hosting global events. “We understand the concerns about Jeonju, but we are committed to ensuring a seamless blend of the city’s unique traditional culture—such as bibimbap and hanbok—with business opportunities for entrepreneurs,” he stated.

With an estimated 3,000 to 4,000 business leaders expected to attend, Jeonju City is making extensive preparations to ensure smooth event operations. Initially planned to be held at the National Intangible Heritage Center, the venue has been changed to Jeonbuk National University for the convenience of participants.

In addition to the existing budget of 1.2 billion KRW (approximately $900,000), an additional 500 million KRW ($375,000) has been allocated to set up an air dome in the university’s main stadium, creating a space for networking among business leaders. To accommodate attendees, the city has secured contracts for the use of approximately 1,000 rooms within the Hanok Village. Furthermore, around 200 staff members from the Jeonbuk provincial government and Jeonju City Hall will be stationed at the venue to assist with event operations.

The World Korean Business Convention is a premier networking event for Korean entrepreneurs worldwide, bringing together around 3,000 business leaders from over 60 countries. This year’s convention is scheduled to take place from October 22 to 24.
