The Korean American Chamber of Commerce held its regular general meeting in Atlanta on June 1 and re-elected Hwang Byeong-gu, the former (28th) president, as the new (30th) president.
In order to conduct the election for the 30th president, the Korean American Chamber of Commerce formed an election committee (Chairman Kang Seung-gu) and accepted candidate registrations; however, due to the absence of candidates, Hwang Byeong-gu, the 28th president, was elected as the new president through acclamation at the regular general meeting.
After electing the new president by acclamation, 29th President Lee Kyung-cheol handed over the association’s flag to the new President Hwang and held the inauguration ceremony.
Prior to the general meeting, the 23rd World Korean Business Conference Organizing Committee also held its closing ceremony in Atlanta on May 31.

The Korean American Chamber of Commerce successfully hosted the first overseas World Korean Business Conference in Orange County in October 2023, followed by the successful hosting of the 23rd conference in Atlanta from April 17 to 19.
The 23rd World Korean Business Conference in Atlanta achieved the largest export and investment contracts in history and has been evaluated as laying a new foundation for the entry of Korean SMEs into the North American market.
The Korean American Chamber of Commerce limits the president’s term to a single two-year term in its bylaws. The outgoing 29th President Lee Kyung-cheol co-hosted the 21st World Korean Business Conference held in Orange County and the 23rd World Korean Business Conference held in Atlanta with the Overseas Koreans Agency during his tenure. He manages a distribution business for mainstream and medical products in Atlanta.
Hwang Byeong-gu, the newly appointed 30th president, operates a large western orchid farm in Orlando, Florida. He successfully led the organizing committee for the 21st World Korean Business Conference in Orange County two years ago. He passed the baton of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce to President Lee Kyung-cheol before the Orange County conference.
