The Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia (President Sun Park) is urging businesses in the Southeastern U.S. to participate in the 21st World Korean Business Convention (WKBC), scheduled to take place from October 11 to 14.
On the 8th, key figures including Lee Kyung-chul, President of the Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce (FOKACC), and Sun Park, President of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, gathered at a Korean restaurant in Duluth to encourage applications, which will be accepted until the 15th.
Lee Kyung-chul emphasized the scale of the event, stating, “Over 800 companies, including more than 560 Korean enterprises and local government organizations from South Korea, will participate in the exhibition. There will also be a variety of programs, such as one-on-one business matchmaking and startup pitch competitions, so we encourage many businesses to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Lee Young-bum, Honorary Chairman and a participant since the first convention, highlighted the importance of business networking, saying, “We are putting great effort into fostering connections among business leaders. Many successful business deals have resulted from one-on-one meetings, and we are already seeing the impact. We will continue striving to provide practical support for business owners.”
The organizing committee announced that approximately 150 participants from the Southeastern U.S. have registered so far. They also assured that the Atlanta Korean Chamber of Commerce is offering registration assistance to make the process easier for those interested.
This year, the event has been officially renamed the “World Korean Business Convention” (WKBC), replacing its former title, “World Korean Entrepreneurs Convention.” Additionally, for the first time in its history, the event will be held outside of South Korea, with Anaheim, California, serving as the host city.
According to Chairman Lee Kyung-chul, the event is hosted by the Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce, overseas Korean business organizations, and the Office of Overseas Koreans. However, the Office of Overseas Koreans and FOKACC are no longer part of the organizing body, with the final event organizers being the Orange County Korean Chamber of Commerce, Maeil Business Newspaper & MBN, and the Korea Federation of SMEs.
